As a wholly-owned subsidiary company of SAIC, Shanghai Automobile Gear Works (hereinafter referred to as SAGW)， one of the most prestigious companies in development and production of automotive transmission in China, is a leader in automotive transmissions and key components manufacturing for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and new fuel vehicles with its 6 production locations in Shanghai, Shenyang, Shandong, Liuzhou, Jiangsu and Chongqing.
Founded in 1925, SAGW is formerly known as Zhengxingtai Auto Parts Factory. Relocated to No. 600, Huiwang Road, Jiading, Shanghai in 2015, SAGW currently covers a land area of 910000 m2 with 460000 m2 of floor space and owns the fixed assets of 13.8 billion RMB. Total headcount of over 7000 employees yields annual sales revenue of nearly 12.8 billion RMB with more than 3.87 million units of transmissions on a yearly basis.

SAGW has developed more than 100 types of products for 21 platforms and become an OEM supplier and significant strategic partner of renowned domestic and overseas motor companies including Shanghai General Motors, Shanghai Volkswagen, Shanghai General Motors Wuling, SAIC Motor, Dongfeng Nissan, Dongfeng Motor, Zotye Auto, BAIC Motor, General Motors and Ford.
SAGW has obtained 180 patent licenses so far. SAGW is equipped with national-level technical center, testing center and world-leading manual and automatic transmission production line. The testing center, one of the China's key laboratories, has a complete set of verification capabilities involving transmission performance development, fatigue and durability, calibration, noise diagnosis, etc.
With the establishment of state-of-art automated manufacturing plant, SAGW has realized the information construction from PLM, across ERP and all the way to MES. SAGW will strictly adhere to China’s national strategy and accelerate the construction of intelligentization and manufacturing plant of big data by means of benchmarking the “Made in China 2025” plan.
At present, SAGW is striving to become a automotive transmission company with core competitiveness in comprehensive command of key research and manufacturing technologies of high-speed manual transmission, automatic transmission 2+1 (DCT, CVT+AMT) and new fuel driveline.
